ABHMS releases One Great Hour of Sharing funds in response to California wildfires
VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 11/20/18)—In response to the California wildfires, American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS), on behalf of American Baptist Churches USA, has released $15,000 in One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) Emergency Disaster-response grants.
To aid in relief efforts, $5,000 each has been provided to the following entities:

American Baptist Churches of Metro Chicago Calls New Regional Executive Minister
VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 1/17/19)—The American Baptist Churches of Metro Chicago called Rev. David Gregg as its new Executive Minister in a special meeting of the region’s Family Council on January 12, 2019. The body, which comprises one pastor and one other representative of each member congregation, voted overwhelmingly to approve the search committee’s recommendation to call Rev. Gregg, who will begin his service in late January.

North Shore Baptist Church sponsors "Hearing in Color and Seeing Clearly", two days of activities in honor of Dr. King:
Saturday, Feb. 2 2019, 4 p.m. - Hearing in Color: North Shore Baptist Church and LaRob Payton present an evening of storytelling through spirituals and songs that offer ideas of community and justice in the face of discrimination. The concert will feature original music by Adrian Dunn, with featured soloists Leah Dexter and Joelle Lamarre. In partnership with Scapi Magazine. Supported by the Lilly Endowment's Young Adult Adult Initiative.
Sunday, Feb 3, 2019 12:00 p.m. - Seeing Clearly: an afternoon of conversation and reflection intended to stir our own members, reach our neighbors and revive all those in Chicago with eyes to see and ears to hear the call. In King's book Strength to Love (1963) he writes, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."
